Kate and Paul got in touch with a vision of a relaxed celebration for family and friends, where all their guests could let their hair down and have a great time, and they needed my help to bring it all to life.
Set in the grounds of the beautiful Gosden House School, we had a lot of fun putting together a colourful, informal wedding reception with a summer fete atmosphere. We even threw in a bouncy castle and candy floss cart, which kept the kids very happy!
Creating a playful, interactive feel was key here, so we chose bright floral table centrepieces placed on artificial grass, hanging lanterns suspended from the marquee ceiling, and guests enjoyed a gourmet picnic served in hampers at each table.
Once the evening guests arrived, everyone was entertained by Darren ‘Graceland’ Jones – a must have for Elvis fan Kate! The day was rounded off with a delicious hog roast and a selection of homemade cakes, fuelling the dancing well into the night.
Whether a playful summer marquee wedding is your thing or not, Kate and Paul are great examples of how you can build your perfect wedding day from the ground up. They still included all the bits of tradition that meant something to them and I loved helping them put their personality into every detail.
“We were planning our wedding from scratch, with just an area of grass within the grounds of a school to work with. We knew from the outset that we’d need some help but weren’t sure at which point to engage it. With a year to go until our special day we met with Georgina, who within minutes made us feel at ease, totally understood our theme and helped us to prioritise our tasks ahead.
As the date drew nearer we had regular meetings, helping us to keep on track and with two weeks to go, Georgina took over, speaking to our contractors to finalise details and making herself known as the key contact for the day. Because of Georgina’s attention to detail and planning, on the day itself we were able to relax, knowing absolutely everything was covered and sure enough, our wedding ran smoothly and to time, leaving us to enjoy our day.
