When couples choose to travel across the world to get married in London, I always believe the wedding should feel like more than a beautiful celebration. It should feel like an experience.
For John & Joe, that experience was rooted in their love of Britain, its history and, of course, London itself. Having travelled here many times from the United States, the city had become incredibly special to them over the years. So when it came to choosing where they would marry, there was only ever one destination in mind.
Their elegant wedding at Trinity House brought together everything they love about London, combining rich history, timeless grandeur and deeply personal details that reflected who they are as a couple.
Choosing the Perfect London Wedding Venue
One of the first conversations we had during the planning process was about finding a venue that truly captured the essence of London.
John & Joe wanted their guests to experience something quintessentially British from the moment they arrived. Trinity House, overlooking the Tower of London and just moments from Tower Bridge, was the perfect fit.
Steeped in history and filled with extraordinary architectural details, the venue offers an impressive sense of occasion without ever feeling overwhelming. From the magnificent chandeliers to the historic artwork that adorns the walls, every room tells a story, making it an exceptional setting for an overseas couple wanting to showcase the best of London.
For guests travelling from the United States, it also provided an unforgettable introduction to the city’s rich heritage.
Creating a Wedding That Reflected Them
One of the things I loved most about working with John & Joe was their commitment to making the wedding feel authentically theirs.
Every decision was guided by what mattered to them rather than what was expected.
Their beloved dog Louis was perhaps the most important guest who didn’t actually attend. Unable to make the journey from America, he was incorporated into the celebration in countless thoughtful ways. Guests discovered him on cocktail napkins, cufflinks and other personalised details throughout the day.
My personal favourite was undoubtedly the wedding cake topper, which featured miniature versions of the grooms alongside a mischievous Louis attempting to steal a piece of cake. It was fun, personal and perfectly reflective of their personalities.
These are often the details guests remember most because they tell the story of the couple in a way that feels genuine and meaningful.
A Memorable Start to the Celebrations
The day began at the nearby Four Seasons Hotel before the couple made their way to Trinity House for the final preparations.
Amongst the excitement of the morning was a particularly unexpected wedding keepsake: an official letter from former President Joe Biden, politely declining their wedding invitation. Written on White House stationery, it quickly became one of the most talked-about details of the day and certainly something none of us had encountered before.
It’s these wonderfully personal touches that make every wedding unique.
A Ceremony Filled With History and Emotion
The ceremony took place in The Court Room, one of Trinity House’s most spectacular spaces.
Flooded with natural light from its grand windows and framed by historic portraits, the room provided an extraordinary backdrop for John & Joe’s vows. There is something incredibly special about seeing a couple exchange such meaningful promises in a setting that has witnessed centuries of history.
As guests took their seats, a string quartet created an atmosphere that was both elegant and intimate.
As devoted musical theatre fans, music played an important role throughout the celebration. Rather than selecting a single processional piece, the couple carefully curated several songs for different entrances, ensuring each moment felt personal and significant.
Their entrance to All I Ask of You from The Phantom of the Opera was particularly moving and perfectly suited the grandeur of the room.
Celebrating With Family and Friends
Following the ceremony, guests enjoyed drinks before moving into The Library for the wedding breakfast.
With beautiful early summer light streaming through the stained-glass windows, it was the perfect setting for an afternoon of heartfelt speeches, laughter and celebration. Friends and family had travelled from across the Atlantic to be there, making the occasion feel even more special.
One of the things John & Joe cared about most throughout the planning process was creating an exceptional experience for their guests. From the moment they arrived in London to the final dance of the evening, every element was designed to make everyone feel welcomed, included and part of something truly memorable.
An Evening of Style, Tradition and Celebration
Before the evening celebrations began, John & Joe made a quick outfit change, swapping their classic black dinner jackets for crisp white tuxedo jackets.
The change perfectly complemented what came next: a dramatic sword cake cutting that felt entirely at home within the historic surroundings of Trinity House.
From there, the celebrations continued into the evening as guests filled the dance floor and enjoyed a wonderful evening together.
A Wedding to Remember
Looking back, John & Joe’s wedding was a beautiful reminder that the most memorable celebrations are always the most personal.
Whilst Trinity House provided an extraordinary setting, it was the couple themselves, their story, their sense of humour and the thoughtful details woven throughout the day that made the celebration so special.
It was an absolute privilege to help bring their vision to life and create a wedding that felt unmistakably London, whilst remaining completely and authentically them.
